Dylan's 1 year Portraits

Dylan was one of my newborn's from last year, amazing how fast they grow up on you. I was so excited when his mommy wanted to set up a session for his 1 year portraits and a cake-smash session. We had a fun session, Dylan was a little shy and didn't want much to do with pictures or the cake but we still captured some fun moments and cute pictures.

Love Story Contest

Mystic Memories – Photography & Designing is happy to announce it's 1st annual Love Story Contest!

I primarily focus my photography on newborns, kids, and family portraiture but occasionally I take on a Wedding, Bridal session, or my favorite - Engagement session. The reason I LOVE engagement sessions is because I get to ask the couple about their “LOVE STORY”. I am a sucker for a good love story. I like to hear people talk about how they got to where they are and why they are so in love. So in the spirit of Valentine's Day coming up I thought it would be fun to hear some REAL love stories.

Beginning January 30th you will be able to submit your love story. I will be taking entries until midnight on February 5th. On February 6^th voting will start. I will post all of the stories – which will remain anonymous. Voting will go on for a week and will close at midnight on February 13^th. Winner will be announced on Valentine's Day.

Sounds fun, right!?!

OK, now lets talk about the prize...

Winner will receive a free Creative Couple's Session or just a regular Couple's Session. The Creative Sessions involve a theme and usually fun props but if that's not your thing I am happy to do a regular session.

Here are all the Rules:

* Only one entry per couple.

* Need to be 18 or older (both don't have to be 18 years of age, but at least one of the two).

* You do not need to be a professional writer, have fun with it and spice it up!

* Please keep your Love Story to a modest length. Don't write a whole book, people are less likely to get through it if you ramble on about it. Keep it short and keep the readers attention.

* This contest is opened to everyone who wants to share their love story. You can be dating, engaged, newly weds, or married for 20 years. As long as you have a love story to share, we wanna hear it!

* Please keep your Love Story clean, if I blush and feel like I would be embarrassed to share it, I won't post it. I have my values and I am not going to allow someone or something to be entered that I would be ashamed of.

* All entries must include a photo. Photo does not have to be professional, any photo you want to enter will work – Please do not enter a professional photo that you do not have rights to. I respect the rights of other photographers, if it's copyrighted please do not enter it I will not accept it. (ex. If you have to scan it because all you have is a print, it's copyrighted for sure). Unless a photographer gave you a piece of paper saying they give you the copyright, I am guessing you don't have rights.) A snap shot will work just fine. - I do not know if I am going to post photos in an album yet but I do want to post the pic of the winning couple so I want to have a pic on hand of each couple.

How voting works:

* For every "like" that your story receives it gets a vote. 20 "likes" = 20 votes.

* Your job will be to send people to my page to read the love stories and to vote for their favorite! They will need to “like” Mystic Memories – Photography & Designing's facebook page in order to vote.

* Story with the most votes at the end of the contest wins. (That winner has 48 hours to contact me or they default to the runner-up).

How to enter:

* First off you need to be a fan of Mystic Memories - Photography & Designing on Facebook. So if you haven't "liked" the page yet, please go to do this so you can participate.

Racqual's Newborn Portraits

This baby girl was so wonderful to photograph. So sweet and gave some of the greatest toothless grins (love them).

I enjoyed our session, she was the perfect little model to wing me back into work from being on vacation so long.

Kauai - a.k.a. Paradise

Just Thought I'd share some images from my trip to Kauai.

Yes I know these images aren't the best quality, I just had my little point and shoot travel camera.

I Soooo wish I had my big camera BUT when you have to shuffle around two toddlers with all their stuff I didn't want to have ANOTHER bag to carry.

And I didn't want to chance something happening to my nice camera.

Don't worry next trip to Hawaii my baby is comin' with me!

This is was I was up to those 3 weeks I was unavailable. ;)

I already miss it. It was so beautiful and warm.

Benson Family Portraits

I enjoyed my session with this handsome little guy. It took us a while to get him a sleep but as you can tell it was so worth the wait. I just love a good newborn session. I am so happy his mommy brought him into me. And I love seeing first time parents, they just beam with pride it's neat. These two will be wonderful parents. :)

Goddard Family Portraits

Melissa & Parker

I photographed these two back in the summer and Melissa called me up to do another session...but this time she had a cute idea in mind for a location theme. When we pulled into the location I was in awww. The location had scattered railroad themed props all over the property. There was railroad signs, railroad crossing lights, tracks, a mini train bridge, a station, a real caboose. It was family property and Melissa said when she was younger there was a lot more stuff and there was actually a mini train that her Grandpa would pull all the little kids on around all the little tracks. It was really neat. My son would of been in HEAVEN if he had saw it. He is a big fan of trains.

Brown Family Portraits

It was sooooo cold the evening of this session. We had already rescheduled from the week before due to bad weather so we were running out of available spots so we braved the freezing temps and ended up with some sweet portraits.

Their little girl was a trooper. Her poor little nose was bright red but she was still so cute.

I am glad we finally got their family pictures done.

Harper & Willow's Newborn Portraits

I had such a blast with these two adorable newborn girls, and I LOVE their names, Harper and Willow - how cute is that. They were so perfect all through the session. I was a little nervous when mom showed up by herself, the last twin newborn session I did I had a lot of help, but the girls were amazing and we were able to capture a lot of precious portraits.

All of these sweet newborns I have had to chance to work with lately are making me want another baby of my own (then I spend a day with my two toddlers and the moment passes, lol). Last week I got to photograph Zander, he was so tiny that non of my prop hats would fit. But that didn't matter because he was oh so cute and he had so many smiles to share with me. I had a hard time deciding which photos to share because he was so adorable, but as you can tell by the pics of his beautiful mommy you would expect nothing less.

Lincoln's Creative Session

I have been dying to post a preview of this session. I love love LOVE doing creative sessions and I had so much fun with Lincoln. He is such a handsome little guy and his eyes are so amazing, love his baby blues. I can't believe he lasted as long as he did in the freezing cold to do this session. The Coffey Family was a joy to work with. Kept me laughing and smiling the whole session. They are a wonderful family and you can tell they enjoy each other when they get together. The mother of the family actually used to babysit me when I was really little and I was so excited and honored when she called me to get some family portraits done. It was a very cold evening and we froze (well more them because their wonderful father was sweet enough to let me wear his coat) but we got some wonderful family portraits for them.

We were finally able to get the Elkin's Family photographed last Saturday.

We had to reschedule once for weather and once for family sickness...so third time was a charm.

I had a great time with the Buck family. I just couldn't get over how big their little boy has gotten since I saw him last. He came in for his newborn portraits and was such a joy to work with - I was so excited when they asked me to do family portraits for them this fall. They have such a cute little family. We started our session by some railroad tracks...lesson learned - don't take a 6-month-old to a place he can see and hear moving trains or he won't give you the time of day. lol. It was cute though how observant the little guy was. Besides the lack of big dimpled smiles from the handsome little guy we got some pretty cute portraits...

I absolutely adore the Johnson family. This is the 4th year I have had the opportunity to photograph them and each time I can't get over how cute their kids are. Their little girl has the cutest little personality, the most contagious smile, and gorgeous brown eyes. And their little boy and his gorgeous baby blues....need I say more! I couldn't believe how fast this session went. With 4 little kiddos you are bound to have 1 or 2 who don't want their picture taken. But with this sweet little family that wasn't the case. These sweet kiddos came in for their mini sessions for being in The Cutest Kid Contest a few months ago. I enjoyed getting to photograph them and learn a little about them, I learned that one of them LOVED getting their picture taken and the other didn't. I love newborn sessions....and the more newborns I get to photograph the more baby hungry I get (but that's a whole other story).

Sweet little Samee was such a joy to work with. It took us a while to get her to sleep but when we did we were able to capture some really neat portraits. I just can't believe how much she looks like her mommy (I am jealous my kids don't look like me, they look just like their daddy).

Ralph Kiddos

I had a blast with these three cuties. Their session was quite a workout - but so worth it because of all the adorable portraits we captured. As I have said many times I have always wanted twins so when I get the chance to photograph them I get all excited. This time I was able to do a twin cake-smash session, SOOOO much fun! I LOVE a good cake-smash session. I don't know how mom is going to choose which ones she wants for her prints- these kiddos can't take a bad picture. I had a hard time just choosing a few for a preview, so here is a BIG preview.

Lindsey & Jordan's Wedding

I had the opportunity to photograph my brother-in-law's wedding. It was a pretty little outside wedding. They chose a wonderful location. My only regret was that we didn't get much time for pictures, there were so many wonderful places to take photos on this property. Lindsey was such a beautiful bride, I am so excited to have her as my new sister-in-law. She did a wonderful job planning the wedding right down to the cute little favors made for the guests. She even had a fun idea for a little photo booth, So we take fun pictures of friends and family that stuck around until the end. Their wedding day will definitely be a day they never forget.

Congrats Jordan and Lindsey. Thank you for letting me capture your special day. I wish you the best of luck in your new life together. :)

Danee & Garin's Engagement's - Fair Session

For those of you who aren't from Southeast Idaho let me explain to you that the State Fair is a pretty big deal around our small farm town. So when Danee and Garin got engaged the weekend before the fair they thought it would be fun to take an evening and go to the fair to capture some engagement pictures. It was a lot of fun and I think they enjoyed it as well....except the part where Garin dropped $30 to win a stuffed pig, lol. Gotta love the fair!

Kinzley is Turning Two

Jordan & Lindsey's Engagement Portraits

I know I am really late with this post....Jordan and Lindsey got married this past Friday. lol. As I had stated before I LOVE a good proposal story, and Lindsey has by far the BEST proposal story (in my opinion). For those of you who know me personally you know how much I LOVE New York City. Maybe it's because I watched Sleepless in Seattle a million times when I was little but I always thought it would be so romantic and memorable to be proposed to on top of the empire state building (call me a hopeless romantic). Well Lindsey was lucky enough to live out my dream proposal. Jordan proposed to Lindsey on top of the Empire State Building. *sigh* such a lucky girl! :)

Anyways I thought I'd share some of my favorite images from their sessions. There are A LOT of favorites.

I had so much fun with Lindsey and Jordan. They are a cute couple and definitely enjoy being together. I have had a little idea I had been wanting to tryout with a couple engaged. So glad Jordan and Lindsey let me try it out on them, it turned out so cute! I saw another photographer (Julie Paisley) do the ABC idea with a maternity session and I thought it would be fun to do ABC's for an engagement session. I made a book for Jordan and Lindsey as a Thank You for letting me try out my ideas. I wanted the book to be all about them as a couple and I think we did a pretty good job picking the right idea for each letter. Most of them tell a lot about them. For example: S is for Stadium. We took a couple of pictures at the stadium where the first met. Anyways here is a few photos of the actual book and then a video of the ABC pages.

The Konzek Family Portraits

I had so much fun with the Konzek's. I have had the honor of photographing this family since the day it started. :) I still remember their wedding day, Mark and Shelbey were so in love. The neat part is 5 years, and a couple of kids later they still look at each other the same way. :) I love it. And not like I have to point it out, because it's a given, but they make really CUTE kids! I really enjoyed photographing the kiddos they were all for getting their pics taken, so fun!

Thanks Mark and Shelbey for letting me photograph your journey together, can't wait to see what the future brings. :)

Steven & Roxane's Engagement Portraits

I LOVE engagement sessions and I have been honored to have had the opportunity to capture a few engagement sessions lately. My favorite part of getting to photograph an engaged couple is hearing their story....how they met, what they like about each other, when they knew that their partner was the "one", and of course their proposal story. I LOVE hearing proposal stories. And this couple has a wonderful story. I have to share it (this is the reason there are pictures in front of the Nuart - our city's theater)...

Steven is involved in the Community Theater and on the night of one of his performances he pulled Roxane up on stage during intermission and serenaded her with some guitar playing and a song written himself (can we say SWEET). After which he got down on one knee and proposed.

When I asked Steven how he proposed he sent me a link to a video of the proposal (hope they don't mind that I share it, I just think it's such a cute proposal and very original) Click HERE to watch video.

When I started photographing these two I kept thinking NO WAY are they old enough to be getting married (when in all actuality I was their age when I got married). I grew up with older siblings to each of them. I have just always pictured them as being little kids. But after we got into the session I saw it, these two are very much in LOVE and ready to be married. I couldn't be happier for them. I really enjoyed our session. and I am happy they asked me to capture this important step in their new journey together.

Talbot Family Portraits

I enjoyed photographing the Talbot Family. I have been wanting to get my camera on their cute little boys for the longest time. So glad I finally got the chance, they did not disappoint. They both are so adorable. And in just a few short months there will be another little guy who will be joining their family, I am sure he will be just as handsome as the other two. Can't wait to meet him.

I was so amazed at how well every single one of these kids behaved. It gives me a little bit of hope. lol. Every single kid posed and smiled on command....how often does that happen - NEVER. It was such a fun relaxing family session.

Happy Birthday Koryn and Lillian!
Today is their birthday and I forgot I hadn't shared their photos on the blog yet...

Koryn and Lillian's mommy is a good friend of mine and I was so excited to get to use all my girly props with them. They had fun playing with the beads and purses. You would never guess they were twins: one brown hair, brown eyes and the other is blonde hair, blue eyes. Both adorable in their own little way.

two of their pictures were featured on another blog....for those of you who aren't part of the "Confessions of a Prop Junkie" group you might not understand how big of a deal this is was me. But to me it was a big honor.

Kaycen's Creative Session

Kaycen was the winner of, "The Cutest Kid Contest" that was held in July...I can see why he got so many votes - So handsome! We had lots of fun during his session. Little Kaycen enjoys four wheeling with his dad, so his mom decided she wanted to do his Creative Session with four wheeling as the theme. What a wonderful idea. Kaycen had a blast (mom and I almost got ran over, lol) and we got some fun portraits.

Savannah's 5-month Portraits

Little Savannah was a joy to photograph. As you can tell she has the prettiest blue eyes and the sweetest little lips which she loved to either suck the bottom lip in or push out like a little birdie - ADORABLE! Oh how I love my job because I get to play with sweet little babies like Savannah! So glad her mommy brought her into me.

Hill Family Portraits

I was so happy when my wonderful friend Jennifer asked me to photograph her family (she is also a fellow photog herself). And when she told me she wanted to have balloons in her pictures I was even more happy! She had some cute ideas and the colors she chose worked out perfectly. I enjoyed working with the whole family.

I don't care what she says I still want 6 kids and I want at least one set of twins. lol. She is such a wonderful mommy, I really look up to her. And talk about keeping the romance alive while having 6 kids....her and her hubby are the cutest couple and so in love!

Also if you notice the matching headpieces and necklaces they are made by me (Mystic Boutique) to match the girl's outfits for the photo session.

Ava's turning Two

This little sweetheart did not like the idea of her picture taken...but you would never know that from all the cute portraits we captured. It took a little work to get her to look anywhere near my direction or even sit by herself. She was adorable and worth the hard work. Thanks to an ice cream treat and her uncle singing Justin Bieber she warmed up to the session. She will be turning 2 in September and her mommy is planning a ladybug birthday party for her. Talk about cuteness overload!

I had Soooo much fun with this session. I love this little man, and he loves The Beatles. The first song he learned to sing was, "Let It Be" which is still his favorite song today. I always try to do my children's portraits with little themes to give more of a personalized feel to the pictures and show off what they like at that time. This is where I got the idea to start offering "Creative Kid Sessions"

Since my little man LOVES The Beatles I wanted to do his Creative Session with a Beatles inspired theme. We even grew his hair out for the shoot...this session was planned over many months. I had so much fun with this and I know he enjoyed getting his pictures done.

Lilly & Emma's Newborn Portraits

This was my first time photographing newborn twins so I was nervous...and not to mention they were almost 2 months old - I was VERY nervous (I like to photograph newborns within the first 2 weeks because they are in that wonderful newborn coma). But I was pleasantly surprised with the session. The girls were so sweet and slept very well. I think it was a complete success! Thanks to the extra helpers that came. It was a fun session. I enjoyed the challenge and I can't wait to get my hands on another set of twins! :)

Aaron - Daddy & Me Session

This is one of my favorite sessions I have done lately....maybe that's because I love all 3 of these people more than anything. :)

I am sure you recognize my two kiddos. But the handsome guy doesn't show up very often on this blog...he is my wonderful husband.

I wanted to do a fun little Daddy & Me session for my husband and he choose to do a baseball theme. Our little family is all about playing ball in the summer. 3 or 4 nights a week you can find us at the ball fields playing softball. We love it. So I thought it would be the perfect place to let the kids eat, have fun, and capture some fun portraits of my husband and kiddos. Besides the hot dog fight I think everyone had fun.

I love my little family, they make my ♥ happy.

Khloee's mini Creative Session

I am "Prop Junkie"

I guess admittance is really the first step! :)

I like props....ok that is an understatement, I LOVE props. My house is full of props I have picked up. Yes I even have a prop room in my house. One day I will have to organize it and actually take a picture of all my props. I have stumbled on props, I have searched for props, I am always on the lookout for props, and I even make some of my props (etsy store is coming).

Just to give you an idea of how many props I have accumulated, I have yet to photograph over half of the props I have.

Yes I do have a problem because I can't stop buying things to use as props.
AND there are still so many props that I WANT.

It's a good thing I am not rich or I would be in BIG trouble.

So there you have it, my name is Misty and I am a "Prop Junkie".

Cutest Kid Contest

Mystic Memories – Photography & Designing is happy to announce it's 1st annual Cutest Kid Contest!

Beginning July 1st you will be able to submit a photo of your cute kid(s). I will be taking entries until July 8th. On July 9^th I will post an album on facebook with all of the entries and voting will begin. Voting will go on through out the month and close at midnight on July 31^st. Winner will be announced August 1^st.

Sounds fun, right!?!

OK, now lets talk about the prize...

Winner will receive a free Creative kid Session - What's a “Creative Session” you ask, well this is something that is brand new to Mystic Memories. I am very excited to be offering these special sessions. I hope to post examples of my "Creative Sessions" very soon so keep on the look out. The best way to describe them is a session tailored to show off your child and everything about them – with LOTS of details and creativity. I know sounds neat, huh! I am so excited. This is definitely a prize you want to win.

Here are all the Rules:

* Only one entry per kid. If you have 3 kids you are wanting to enter, please send 3 individual photos, one for each kid.

* You must be the parent or legal guardian of the child you enter into the contest.

* Child must be between 0-12 years of age.

* You must have permission to use the photo you enter. Please do not send me photos taken by other photographers (I don't think they would appreciate you using their photo in another photographers contest. I respect other photographers.) If I have taken the photo I kindly give myself permission to use it.

* Photo must have been taken in the last 6 months.

* Photos do not have to look professional. Any snapshot that shows the cuteness of your kid will work perfectly!

* Any photo sent after midnight on July 8^th will not be entered.

* If any of these rules aren't followed I have the right to deny entry.

* This contest is opened to everyone, however if you don't live in the Southeastern Idaho area and you aren't willing to drive to this area I will have to charge for mileage to accommodate your prize session. I do travel to Utah (Hill Airforce Base area) often so I will be able to accommodate those of you in and around that area (dependent on schedules). Byrkli's Newborn Portraits

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph Byrkli with my friend, Jennifer Hill who is also a photographer. When she told me she was photographing a newborn girl I asked her...ok maybe I begged her to let me help. You see I have had this cute little bike for a few months now and all the newborns I have been photographing lately have been boys and this idea was specifically for a girl. So I have to thank my wonderful friend for letting me do a joint newborn session with her. It was a lot of fun to shoot with another photographer and bounce ideas off each other. Usually I am left talking to myself.

I also have to thank Byrkli's mom for letting us photograph her perfect little girl for over 2 hours. Yes she lasted for over 2 hours. I do have to say Byrkli has been the easiest newborn I have photographed and she is so adorable.

I also wanted in on this newborn session so I could photograph my headbands that I make. If you have a daughter and think she would make a cute model, please go like my facebook page because I will be doing a search for girl's to be models for me soon. Not only will my etsy shop have cute headpieces but I will be selling leg warmers, bracelets, and other fun accessories. I can't wait to get it up and running.

Can we say adorable! Keaton was such a joy to photograph. Jennifer - Mommy and Me Mini Session

I was so excited when my friend, who is a fellow photog, asked me to do a mommy and me session for her. She has some adorable kids - my little Austin was actually named after her son (I was his teacher in Nursery and thought he was the sweetest little boy...who would of known his mommy and I would become such good friends later down the road). I enjoyed our little session. And now more than ever I think she is "Supermom". Any time I try to do pictures with my kids I almost end up in tears because I am so frustrated, and I only have 2 kids. lol. I admire her more than she will ever know. I am so glad Jen e-mailed me a couple years ago because I don't think I would have developed such a great friendship with her otherwise. (I am a keep to myself type of person, outside of photography of course). So thanks Jen for being such a wonderful mother to your kids and being my example. And thanks for being such a great friend - who I think knows me better than anyone.

Here is a little secret of mine - I have always wanted twins!

And Libby's mini session makes me want them even more! Our little session was full of cute chattering and a lot of energy! I has so much fun last week with all of my Mommy and Me Mini Session in Pocatello. My first session was with Tracy and her adorable kids. I couldn't believe how fun and easy they were to photograph. Her kids give me a glimmer of hope for photographing my own kids when they get older (right now they are little monsters when it comes to photos). Tracy is giving these photos to her husband for Father's Day - I know he is going to love them!

My Senior Rep for the Class of 2012

First off Congrats to all of my Reps for the Class of 2011, they will all be graduating in the next couple of weeks.
I wish them all the best in the new adventures they decide to take.

And now I am very excited to try something new to introduce my Senior Rep for the Class of 2012.

Temple Project

I was sorting through some of my pictures from last year and I came upon my temple project I did for my brother. His wife really wanted a picture of the Idaho Falls temple with the distressed, antique look to it. But my brother wanted it more of a black and white picture so I combined all wished and after a few test prints this is what I came up with so he could give it to her for Christmas...

We printed it out at 16x24 and he had a gorgeous custom black frame put around it.

I must share the before picture because it took a lot of work to fix it up, lol. I had one evening to go to Idaho Falls and take a picture of the temple. Of course it had been a very gloomy day, plus I barely made it up there before before dark.

Believe me I am NOT proud of this picture and I can't believe I am even posting it, lol. It's horrible but it's all I had to work with.

Thank goodness for photoshop!

Elizabeth is Turning ONE

I had so much fun with this little cutie. She was so easy to photograph and kept me laughing with the cute little faces she would pull and with those gorgeous blue eyes she couldn't take a bad picture. We got to have a fun little cake-smash session too...oh how I love them! Elizabeth wasn't very interested in the cake though, she wanted to play with the balloons instead. I am so glad her mommy brought her into me to be photographed. And I am so excited to be doing a Mommy and Me session with both of them on Friday. Can't wait to photograph this sweetie again!

Waiting For Baby "K"

I have said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE maternity pictures. I think every mom-to-be should have maternity pictures taken. It's a beautiful part of life and an exciting time for first time parents. This is the case for Jessie and Shawn, the anticipation of the unknown - I love it. These two will be wonderful parents. I am so excited for Jessie to start her journey of motherhood, I know how long she has waited and she will be an amazing mother - she has that natural motherly instinct....for those who know Jessie know exactly what I am talking about.

Here is the soon-to-be parents (who are each fighting for their chosen "K" name....the reason for the two names spelled on the blocks).

Can't wait to meet Baby "K" and see which chosen name he will receive.

My Kiddos

I had a session sadly cancel (death in the family) so I decided to finally pull out my new backdrops I have been dying to try and my cute lace outfits I have had for a while. I also had been needing to take my daughters 18-month portraits since she is now 19-months-old. So I am calling it good for her 18-month portraits.

Anyways here is my sweet little girl:

I couldn't believe how happy she was, usually these attempts end up with her crying, and sometimes me too because I get so frustrated. My son also decided he wanted his picture taken and he posed and smiled all by himself. And I finally got a picture of them together both smiling and both looking at the camera. It was a good day. I love my kiddos!

Keagan is getting Baptized

I had the opportunity to do a quick little mini session with this handsome 8-year-old who is getting ready to be baptized. He also happens to be my nephew, who my son adores and looks up to. This session lasted about 10 minutes because of the storm that rolled in while we were shooting.
