I haven't had time to really update my blog in a while so I thought I would put a little peek up of a session I did last week. I hope to have a full preview up later when we do the other session we had planned but with all the wonderful snow and rain it hasn't been possible. So here is a little blog update and sneak peek, along with hopes for some warm weather. *Thinking Spring*

Austen's Newborn Portraits
I have never had a newborn that hated hats and didn't want to be naked, lol. Austen wanted nothing to do with the cute hats I had for him and every time we unswaddled him he would cry, he loved to be swaddled. So after trying a bunch of different tricks we decided to just keep him swaddled and he was so happy the rest of the session. He even gave us a couple of his cute dimpled smiles. Soooo adorable! I do have to say that Austen is one lucky baby, he has some wonderful parents who love him to pieces.
Here's Austen's preview for his new fan club:
There is a little story behind the cowboy hat,
I hope Austen's mommy doesn't mind that I share it.

It will tug at your heartstrings.
Austen never got the chance to meet his grandpa. His grandpa passed away a year ago from cancer, he was an amazing man (I had the opportunity to have him as a softball coach when I was young). He was very friendly, and had a wonderfully infectious smile (I think that's where his daughters get it from) :)
Austen's mommy wanted to take his picture with her daddy's hat. I thought this was a wonderful idea, and a great way to honor her father.
Thank you for letting me capture this precious memory for you.

Waiting for Drake
I love maternity portraits. I think every mother-to-be should have maternity portraits of herself. It's such an amazing stage in a woman's life. I hear all the time from women that they feel fat and ugly when they are pregnant - and I see the opposite. Motherhood is a beautiful privilege and something to be proud of. This mommy-to-be is no exception. She is so cute and beaming with excitement as she waits for her baby boy to arrive. I am so happy for her.
If you are looking for a cute little hat for your baby (like the sock monkey hat pictured above)

Jaylan Turned ONE
Jaylan is such an adorable one year old. I can't get over her beautiful blue eyes....I had a hard time taking full body shots because I just wanted to get close-ups of her sparkly blues. And she was a hoot with her cake-smash session. She would push one little finger in the cake at a time and lick it - she was one of the cleanest cake-smashes I have ever done. We finally had to have mom put some icing on her face.
Here is sweet little Jaylan's preview:

A little mentoring....
I had my first mentoring session today. One of my friends (Jennifer Hill) wanted me to help her with a newborn session, so I had her over to my little home studio so we could use all of my props and backgrounds. It was really different setting a shot up for another photographer (and sharing my secrets, lol), but I did sneak in a few quick snapshots to share (not my favorite angles but thought they were sweet). I was honored that another photographer wanted my help. Just to give you an idea of what it was like...we had 7 kids 5 years and under running around my little house while we tried to get a newborn asleep for certain shots. For all of the chaos that was going on sweet baby Nathan did very well! This was a neat experience for me and I was happy to share a little bit of my knowledge (because I am still learning myself with every newborn I photograph).

Kylie + Cody = Gorgeous Couple
I had so much fun with Kylie and Cody. I was pretty nervous when I was on my way to photograph their day...I had stepped down and not offered Wedding coverage (once I found out I was pregnant with my 2nd child, that was 2 years ago). My baby is now 18-months-old and I felt like it was time to jump back in. Once I got started it was like I hadn't taken 2 years off, I had so much fun! Kylie and Cody were so easy to work with and a very cute couple. I brought my husband along for support (I told you I was nervous, and it's always nice to have a helper) I think he was pretty jealous of their reception. It was held at a country club golf course (my husband is a huge golfer, I am talking fanatic - we have to plan our kids birth's around golf season or he wouldn't show up for the delivery, ok really I am just kidding.) I had fun taking the bride and grooms pictures out by the greens. My husband said if we could do our reception all over again this is where he would have it. After taking these pictures I agree with him.
Anyways here are some of my favorite pictures of the gorgeous couple I took outside
(I am hoping if I can get caught up with all my previews I will post some of the reception).
