Amelia's Birth Day

I had the most amazing opportunity Monday to photograph my first birth story.
It was by far one of the most memorable experiences I think I will have in my photography career.

When my sweet friend Jennifer found out she was pregnant she asked me if I would photograph the birth...if anyone knows me you know that I am a very private person - meaning I like my privacy and I don't like to invade anyone's privacy. So when she asked me I kind of freaked out a little. lol. Then she started sharing with me all these beautiful birth stories for tons of different photographers - I feel in love.
I went from being scared and worried to getting a little anxious and excited.
She sent me everything she liked from snap shots, videos, and portraits...from all of that I had a pretty good idea of what she wanted.
She wanted lots of details and lots of emotion.
Oh and no matter what they all had to be black and white!
That's what I shot for and hopefully I captured it for her.

I have had two kids of my own so I knew what goes one during labor but it is a whole new outlook when you are not the one doing it. I always knew having a baby was like a little miracle but watching someone else go through it gave me a whole new respect. It was amazing and I felt so honored I was asked to capture these precious moments full of so much emotion. Yes I cried when I uploaded them and looked through them. I honestly feel like this experience had made me grow as a photographer.
So thank you Jennifer for pushing me into what I think was one of the best opportunities to happen to me.

I am a little nervous but excited to share these portraits that I captured. There was a lot and I didn't want to leave anything out for Jennifer so I threw together a little video because she sent me numerous videos to watch...so I can't take credit for this idea of a birth story video because it has been done many times before.

I am also posting some of my favorite images below the video because the quality of the video doesn't do the images justice!

beautifully done! What a super special memory to keep. Wish I had the guts to do it, but I myself am pretty private. I do think it was wonderful and tastefully done. Amazing Misty and sweet new baby!

Absolutely fantastic. Love that you took a leap and did something you hadn't done before, and look at your success. I know Jen is so grateful and will love these for years to come. <3
I shot a birth story for my best friend and it was one of my most favorite photography moments ever. Something I'll never forget.
All your images are incredible. Beautiful work.
